Morphological characteristics of periodontal tissues in experimental osteoporosis

The article analyzes the study of pathological changes in periodontal tissues during experimental osteoporosis. The experiments were performed on 6 year old sheep, which had dentoalveolar segments at the level of the lower incisors removed at different times after ovariectomy. It is defined that in experimental osteoporosis, processes accompanied by acute vascular disorders develop in periodontium: swelling of the vascular wall, diapedesis of red blood cells, hemorrhage, edema and loosening of the surrounding tissue. Vascular disorders worsen the conditions of metabolism, which ultimately leads to destructive changes of argyrophilic and collagen fibrils, as well as individual nerve fibers with the development of dystrophic-inflammatory forms of periodontal disease.
