Study of bacillus an thracis strains phagoresistance and development of the phagotyping scheme

The purpose of the study was to determine the laws of phagoresistance of anthrax cultures to bacteriophage groups and to develop a scheme of simultaneous identification and phagotyping of B. anthracis strains. Anthrax bacteriophages were divided into groups by their characteristics of specific lytic activity to anthrax strains and their cultural variants isolated by the indication of resistance to some of these phages. On the basis of the results of the study a scheme was developed for diversified use of anthrax bacteriophages Gamma А-26 and 186 for identification and phagotyping of B. anthracis strains the spectrum of lytic activity of which includes all the strains studied.
