Complexity and diagnostics errors of pulmonary arteries embolism in multifield hospital

According to the materials of archive medical records and autopsy protocols, the causes of diagnos
tic errors at the verification of pulmonary embolism are studied in 407 patients of a multifield hospital. In 20.64 % of cases pulmonary embolism was initially detected only on autopsy. Over-diagnosis occurred in 38.24 % of cases.

The main causes of errors were low suspicion of specialists concerning PE, the presence of multiple comorbidities with symptoms similar to pulmonary embolism, late medical aid appealability and short duration of hospital stay.
