Physical assessment of the quality of life in patients with knee osteoarthritis of stages 0–2 after combined orthovoltage x-ray therapy and sysadoa (an open randomized study)

In the study was to provide the comparative analysis of the dynamics of the physical component of the quality of life (QoL) in patiets with 0–2 stages of knee joints osteoarthritis (OA), ongoing treatment with symptomatic slow acting drugs (SYSADOA) with and without combination of Orthovoltage X-ray Therapy (OVRT) (an open randomized trial). The QoL was assessing by the scale of «Short Form Medical Outcomes Study» (SF-36). After the treatment, there was an improvement in the physical component of QоL in both groups. In the OVRT group, the peak of the beneficial effect occurred one year after the start of therapy, in the SYSADOA group, the best effect on the RP, BP scales was after the end of treatment, or after 6 months for PF, GH. Thus, OVRT significantly better preserves the physical well-being of patients during the three-year follow-up period.
