Improvement of rehabilitation of children with iron deficiency in educational institutions

The aim of the study is to improve the approach to early diagnosis, prevention and rehabilitation of iron deficiency disorders (IDD) in children of school age in the conditions of general educational institutions. A comprehensive assessment of the state of health of 1230 schoolchildren aged 6–17 years attending the educational institution «Lyceum № 4» was conducted. Questionnaires were carried out, the clinical condition and laboratory parameters of the IDD in schoolchildren were evaluated. We have developed a rehabilitation program for children with prelatent iron deficiency (PID), latent iron deficiency (LID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA). The results obtained indicate a positive trend in all patients, especially in schoolchildren with LID. In some children with IDA, rehabilitation was extended to 3 months.
The rehabilitation program for schoolchildren with PID in the conditions of educational institutions contributes to the completion of the full course without changing the educational process.
