The role of clinical and instrumental data, the expression of Ki-67 and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in the mucous membrane of the large intestine in patients with diverticular disease of the large intestine (DDLI) and its combination with adenomatous intestinal polyps (AIP) and colorectal cancer (CRC) was studied. The study included 190 patients with DDLI (120 people; group 1), when combined with AIP (55 patients; group 2) and with CRC (15 patients; group 3). The control group was represented by 28 patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS; group 4). DDLI was verified in the presence of three or more diverticula in the mucous membrane of the colon (MMC). It was found that the expression of Ki-67 in the DDLI group and when combined with AIP and CRC is higher than the average in the group of patients with IBS. The expression of α-SMA in MMC increased in patients with DDLI and reached a maximum in CRC.
