Bone marrow aplasia in a patient treated with Cefotaxime

Description of the first case of aplastic anemia caused by сefotaxime, a third-generation сephalosporin, with lethal outcome is presented. Clinical record of a patient and post-mortem examination results are given. Possible mechanisms of cytopenias induced by сephalosporin antibiotics are discussed.
