The study demonstrated that COVID-19 coronavirus infection causes neurological sequelae that persist long after the acute phase of the disease. The condition of 103 patients with post-COVID syndrome (PCS) and a control group of 29 healthy individuals was analyzed. Psychometric instruments (MFI-20, MoCA) and neurophysiological testing were used.
In the group with PCS, there was a high incidence of asthenic conditions (44.7 %), cognitive impairment (28.1 %), and affective disorders (13.6 %). Sleep disorders were found in 21.4 % of the examined patients, neuromuscular disorders in 41.7 % of the patients. Thus, the need for comprehensive diagnosis and personalized rehabilitation of patients who have suffered from COVID-19 coronavirus infection has been confirmed in order to improve their quality of life and prevent the chronization of symptoms.
