The incidence of syphilis in Russia remains high, while increasing daily for a number of reasons, all this entailing a need for various medical professionals to be able to recognize this disease. According to WHO, over 50 million people worldwide contract syphilis every year. As the World Health Organization reports, one of the important features of the epidemiology and clinic of syphilis is its spread among homosexual men. Both national and international claim that the share of people infected with syphilis through homosexual contact ranges from 30 % to 80 %. The number of cases of syphilis in Russia in 2020 was 10.5 per 100 000 (men accounted for more than 60 %), compared with 2023 (34.6 per 100 000 population) the incidence rate more than doubled. The article presents of the clinical case of a homosexual young man.
