The first surgeons of Voroshilovsky (Stavropol) medical institute

The article, based on a wide range of archival sources and literature, reveals the problem of staffing the departments of Voroshilovsk (Stavropol) Medical Institute with surgeon teachers in the period from 1940 to 1946. Data are analyzed on the level of theoretical training and practical experience of surgeons, as well as the paths along which they got into teaching. The reasons for the constant shortage of surgical personnel at the institute are shown: the youth of the institute staff, who did not have time to create their own departments by the beginning of the war, the mobilization of surgeons to the front, the murder of a number of surgical teachers by the invaders, natural death, evacuation and moving to a new place of residence. The conditions under which educational, scientific and medical work was carried out at surgical departments during the war years are shown.
