Surgical treatment for thyroid diseases in children

[Abstracts]
Sergey Minaev; Igor Gerasimenko; Oksana Igorevna Iachnaia;

The outcomes of treating thyroid nodules were studied in 62 children, with girls predominating (74.2 %). The patients were divided into two groups: the main group (25) and the control group (37). In the main group, a specifically developed technique of platelet rich plasma (PRP) was used intraoperatively. In the postoperative period, the pain syndrome was relieved reliably (p<0.01) faster in the main group if compared with the control (18.6±1.5 and 42.2±3.6 hours, respectively). The hospitalization duration for the main group was two bed-days shorter if matched VS the control group. The intraoperative use of PRP by the layer-by-layer infiltration method after intervention performed on the thyroid gland shortens the patient’s rehabilitation period as well as it reduces the risk of complications in the postoperative period.
