Level of antimicrobial peptides in children with urinary tract infection

This article is presented the result of the activity study of innate immunity factors in children with urinary tract infection (n=75) in comparison with healthy children in the control group (n=30). Laboratory examination included determination of serum concentrations of antimicrobial peptides – cathelicidin (LL-37), β1-defensin and β2-defensin. The levels of antimicrobial peptides were statistically significantly higher in the group of patients with UTI compared to the control group (p=0.003; p=0.007; p=0.007, respectively).
