«Inflammatory index» and histological features in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

[Abstracts]
Yuliya Alexandrovna  Kravchenko; Pavel Koroy;

In 40 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the relationship of «inflammatory index» with the morphological manifestations of the disease was studied. The «inflammatory index» (in points) was the number of five markers of inflammation (E, P, L-selectins, ESR, C-reactive protein) with values above 95 % of the confidence interval of the average in the healthy group. The frequency of severe liver fibrosis reached 66.7 % in patients with values of «inflammatory index» of 5 points. The parameters of the «inflammatory index» in severe fibrosis (3 (2; 4) points) were higher than in less pronounced liver fibrosis (2 (2; 3) points, p = 0.003). The risk of severe fibrosis increases in patients with values of «inflammatory index» of ≥4 points (OR 8.33 (95 % CI 1.60–43.29), p<0.05). The accuracy of the index in predicting of severe fibrosis was 77.5 %.
