Role of type IV collagen in the development of diabetic nephropathy in patients with diabetes mellitus

[Reviews]
Angelina Kalmykova; Alfiya Emilevna Abdullina;

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most frequent and serious complication of type 1 diabetes mellitus, occupying one of the leading places in the structure of the causes of chronic renal failure. The search for new sensitive preclinical markers of this disease is urgent. The review discusses the known indicators of diabetic kidney damage, as well as the role of urinary excretion of type IV collagen as an early non-invasive marker of diabetic nephropathy.
