The assessment of the general vegetative homeostasis in patients with chronic periodontitis was carried out. The nature of the vegetative influences on the blood supply to the periodontal tissues was determined by the respiratory test. The results revealed the presence of significant violations of the autonomic regulation of the periodontium microvasculature, which was confirmed by the maladaptive response of microvessels to the above test in most of the examined subjects. General autonomic homeostasis in periodontitis is characterized by an increase in the activity of both parts of the autonomic nervous system at rest, with the prevalence of the activity of the sympathetic part. Every third patient with periodontitis (both mild and moderate) showed dysfunction of autonomic influences in the cardiovascular system.
