The article presents the materials of microbiological and molecular genetic studies of the species composition of the microflora of the periodontal pocket and root of the tongue, as well as an assessment of its sensitivity to various antibacterial agents used in the treatment of chronic periodontitis. The results of the study showed that PCR diagnostics allows for a shorter time, with less labor and more accuracy to detect the presence of genetic material of difficultly cultivated anaerobic pathogens of chronic periodontitis. Amoxcillin/clavulanate and moxifloxacin have the highest predicted efficacy against the most common pathogens of chronic periodontitis.
