Forensic medical diagnostics of morphological changes with sudden infant death syndrome

[Morphology]
Horen Avanesyan; Margarita Berlay; Anatolii Kopylov; Alexandr Korobkeev; Sergei Karpov;

Among the morphological changes revealed with the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, thymomegaly, uneven hyperplasia of the lymphoid tissue of the spleen and peripheral lymph nodes, and hypoplasia of the adrenal glands are noted. Attention is drawn to an increase in the mass of the heart, combined with discoordination of the formation and development of the myocardium. At microscopic examination hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes of the ventricles, fibrosis of endocardium and subendocardial atrial zone is revealed. Changes in the ganglia of the autonomic nervous system of the heart are found that can lead to the development of life-threatening arrhythmias.
