To study the characteristics of the antimicrobial profile of the oral and gingival fluid of pregnant women without dental pathology and complications of gestational age compared to healthy donors. The study involved 31 pregnant women (clinical group). The control group consisted of 32 non-pregnant women. In the group of pregnant women consistently across all three trimesters ELISA determined the content of cathelicidin LL-37 and a-defensin in the oral and gingival fluid. In women with normal pregnancy without dental pathology concentration of a-defensins 1–3 and cathelicidin LL-37 compared with healthy donors was higher in the gingival fluid in the absence of activation of innate immune responses in oral fluid. During pregnancy, the antimicrobial protection of oral cavity was intensified mainly due to increased secretion of cathelicidin LL-37 and its significant increase in gingival fluid. The study of antimicrobial peptides in gingival fluid during pregnancy has a higher diagnostic value than in the oral fluid.
