The article presents the results of a study of hormonal profile of tumor and visually unchanged cervical tissue in 49 patients with squamous cell cervix carcinoma (T1b-2aN0M0) depending on the tumor growth patterns and presence of co-infection with HPV/Ch. tr. The levels of hormones were studied by the solid-phase ELISA. HPV was detected by E7 protein expression, Ch. tr. – by IgG and IgА to Ch. tr. and antigen/DNA by ELISA and PCR. Tumor tissue was characterized by reduced levels of all steroid forms – estrogens, androgens and progestins – with elevated free testosterone level. Steroid imbalance was found in the presence of co-infection: a decrease in the coefficients reflecting the ratio of the sum of estrogens to total and free testosterone forms, the most significant in endophytic tumors, and an increased in the ratio of the estrogen to progesterone amount – in endophytic growth only. Visually unchanged HPV/Ch. tr.-positive tissue showed elevated levels of estrone, estradiol and prolactin despite tumor growth pattern, and increased testosterone and decreased progesterone levels were found in endophytic growth only. The detected changes can result from the effect of the interaction between Ch. tr. and HPV, performing a trigger role in the malignancy promotion.
