Vladimir Baturin; Jury Bykov; Galina Mamceva; Tatyana Uglova;

Insulin-dependant diabetes (IDD) or type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) is the most common endocrinology pr oblem in children. The purpose of the study was to examine the plasma level of insulin receptors autoantibodies IgG in children with IDD. The objects were 88 children and teenagers aged 3 to 17. The insulin receptors autoantibodies level was determined by ELISA. Children with IDD demonstrated an increase in IgG autoantibodies to the insulin receptors. Antibody titers were increased in new-onset diabetes, as well as in the cases of the exacerbation or decompensation and remission stage. The highest level of antibodies to the insulin receptors was found in the cases of new-onset or decompensated IDD, when the children were not yet receiving the required insulin or were not receiving it in the adequate doses.
