The presence of pulmonary and systemic symptoms, including cardiovascular pathology, polycythemia or anemia, weight loss and so on, is essential for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The pathogenesis of COPD based on neurohormonal dysregulation, chronic hypoxemia and inflammation. Dysfunction of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system induces development of arterial hypertension, left and right ventricular insufficiency, impacts hematocrit. There is a pathogenetic link between the described systemic effects of COPD. It is important to distinquish the symptoms of comorbid pathology and signs of COPD.
