Currently, bronchial asthma (BA) and obesity are two of the most significant chronic diseases among children and adolescents worldwide. The relationship between these pathological conditions in childhood is complex, as it is influenced by numerous modifying factors such as gender, degree of obesity, presence of atopy, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. This review presents current data regarding the subtype «obesity-associated asthma», in which obesity increases the risk of developing asthma or exacerbates its course in children and adolescents.
