An experimental study was conducted in vitro and in vivo of the hemosorption capacity of non-stabilized and stabilized by chemical crosslinking with glutaraldehyde samples of wound dressings based on chitosan. It was found that non-crosslinked chitosan exhibited maximum sorption capacity at the early stages of being in the sorption medium (sorption capacity from 3 to 5 minutes of experimental time increased only 1.2 times (p<0.05)), transforming its sponge configuration to the hydrogel structure rather quickly. Crosslinked chitosan retained its framework properties throughout the experimental time and had a pronounced prolonged sorption effect, which increased in direct proportion to the time the sample was in the sorption medium (sorption capacity from 3 to 5 minutes of experimental time increased 5.4 times (p<0.05)). It was noted that crosslinked chitosan samples can be recommended for the treatment of deep and extensive tissue defects accompanied by pronounced exudation or active bleeding.
