Organization of the psychiatric care for the population in the Stavropol region during the Great Patriotic War

On the basis of new archival documents, the work of the system, provided the psychoneurological assistance to the population in the Stavropol Territory on the eve and in the first year of the Great Patriotic War, its condition under the conditions of the Nazi occupation, the damage caused to the life and health of patients, as well as to the relevant medical institutions of the region, was analyzed. The process of restoring their working capacity after the liberation of the region from the invaders was investigated, the difficulties that prevented the rapid establishment of the work of the Stavropol Psychiatric Hospital and its subordinate units were revealed. The sex and age composition of the patients was analyzed, the main diseases, methods of their treatment and rehabilitation of patients in the considered period of time were considered.
