Diagnosis and surgical treatment of the rectal forms of hirshprungs disease in children

[Original research] [Surgery]
Rasul Abayhanov; Igor Kirgizov; Artem Shakhtarin; Maxim Aprosimov;

Hirschsprung’s disease is the most common surgical cause of chronic colonic stasis in children. We examined 80 children with chronic colonic stasis. The clinical data and radiological imaging data in this pathological condition could be very different from those of the classical forms of Hirschsprung’s disease, which is associated with the clinical features of the rectal forms of the disease. The authors have developed a diagnostic algorithm and proved the high efficiency of the proposed low-invasive surgical treatment for rectal forms of Hirschsprung’s disease – partial sphincterotomy of internal anal sphincter under ultrasound guidance. Positive effect of the surgery was registered in 83 % of cases.
