A histological and morphometric study of 78 samples of skin fragments of tattooed rats was carried out and a comparative characteristic of morphological changes in the skin with the use of various tattoo pigments was given. It has been established that the tattooing procedure leads to changes in the anatomical structure of the dermis, while the most pronounced inflammatory reaction develops to the introduction of red pigment. An increase in the number of macrophages in response to the introduction of a tattoo pigment is a risk of developing granulomatous inflammation around a foreign body.
