In the study is to identify the main stages and critical periods of the development of the ligamentous apparatus of the human hip joint in the fetal period. The study of intra-and extra-articular ligaments of the hip joint, pelvic and hip muscles was carried out on the corpses of 200 fetuses aged from 12 to 38 weeks. We used classical and original anatomical, histological, biomechanical and morphometric methods of research. We identified two critical periods (weeks 18–21 and 28–31) characterized by growth retardation, changes in the structure and extremum of the biomechanical properties of the ligaments, which are determined by changes in the dynamic stereotype of the proximal segment of the fetal limb skeleton.
