In 74 patients with cervical cancer (T1b2-T2bNxM0) treated with neoadjuvate chemotherapy (n=25), including with bevacizumab (n=49), the level of vasculoendothelial growth factors (VEGF-A, VEGF-D) and their receptors (VEGF-R2, VEGF-R3) in surgical biopsies was studied by ELISA. In the tumor, peritumoral and visually intact tissues of endophytic formations treated with bevacizumab, there was a pronounced decrease in the VEGF-A/VEGF-R2 ratio (by 4, 10 and 22 times, respectively) due to an increase in VEGF-R2 levels (by 2.0; 8.8 and 13.2 times, respectively) and a decrease in VEGF-A values (1.8 times in tumor and 1.5 times in visually intact tissues). In exophytic cervical cancer, the decrease in the VEGF-A/VEGF-R2 ratio during bevacizumab therapy was less pronounced (by 3.0; 3.3 and 8.3 times, respectively) and was associated with an increase in the VEGF-R2 content (by 2.5; 2.2 and 8.1 times in tumor, peritumoral and visually intact tissues, respectively). VEGF-D values were decreased in all cervical cancer tissues, especially in endophytic tumors. Thus, the use of bevacizumab in locally advanced cervical cancer together with neoadjuvate chemotherapy inhibits the expression of angiogenic growth factors and activates the inhibitory system of neoangiogenesis, inhibits the processes of lymphoangiogenesis.
