Results of thoracoscopic correction of atrial septal defect with cardiopulmonary bypass

In this work we presented the comparison of outcomes after surgical repair of atrial septal defect. Patients were divided into two groups: the 1st group was operated by totally thoracoscopic access (n=93), the 2nd group used full median sternotomy (n=80). The data obtained indicate the successful use of two accesses, however, in the group with thoracoscopic correction, stay in the ICU and hospital, blood loss, the need of blood transfusion, the length of the skin incision were significantly lower than in the group with median access.
