Assesment of the action of melatonin and fluoxetine on the model of resinpina depression

Pineal hormone melatonin (0.5 mg/kg), fluoxetine (5 mg/kg) and their combination were studies on model of reserpine-induced depression in rats. Experiments were performed in the «open field» test, reserpine-induced ptosis and hypothermia. As was shown melatonin, less than fluoxetine, could antagonize reserpine-induced depression. In combination with fluoxetinemelatonin potent it antidepressant-like effects.
