Influence of metabolic syndrome on the clinical picture of osteoarthrosis

The effect of metabolic syndrome on the clinical picture and laboratory parameters of osteoarthritis was studied in 164 patients, divided depending on its presence or absence on the main and control groups. The number and location of affected joints, the severity of the pain syndrome, the values of ESR, C-reactive protein and tumor necrosis factor-α
were assessed. Patients with osteoarthritis and metabolic syndrome experienced more frequent joint damage, as well as more pronounced pain and inflammation intensity.
