Cystatin C study in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease

The article presents the results of studying the cystatin C level and the comparative analysis of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) calculated by creatinine and cystatin C in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidneys disease (CKD) 1–3 stages. Levels of cystatin C and creatinine positively significantly correlated with each other, as well as indicators of GFR calculated by these indicators. The measurement of GFR calculated by cystatin C level allowed to diagnose the early stages of hyper- and hypofiltration of CKD. The analysis showed correlation of cystatin C level and GFR calculated by cystatin C with body mass index (BMI) and intraabdominal obesity. These results should be considered when interpreting these indicators.
