The sequence of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the digestive tract in children with connective tissue dysplasia

[CTD in pediatrics]
Irina Ivanova; Svetlana Kosareva;

The purpose of the study was to identify the sequence of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the digestive tract development in 93 children with aged 8–17 years with connective tissue dysplasia (CTD) syndrome depending on its’ severity and patient’s dysplastic phenotype. In children with CTD erosive-ulcerative lesions occur earlier, often in different divisions; there is a tendency to recurrence. In severe CTD erosive esophagitis developes more often and earlier. Children with different dysplastic phenotypes differ from each other in terms of the development of the erosive and ulcerative lesions of the digestive tract. Patients with Elers-like phenotype characterized by a relatively early occurrence of inflammatory, erosive and ulcerative processes in the gastrointestinal tract, mainly in the form of duodenum ulcer. Marfan-like phenotype is characterized by a relatively later development of predominantly erosive esophagitis. Children with unclassifiable phenotype occupy the intermediate position between these groups. The peculiarities of the digestive tract lesions should be considered while managing children with CTD.
