The syndrome of «rapid decompression» of the biliary tract: prevention and treatment

The article presents the results of treatment of 188 patients with the syndrome of obstructive jaundice. The control group consisted of 94 patients who underwent standard therapy. In the index group (94 patients) the standard treatment was supplemented by antioxidants. The syndrome of «rapid decompression» of biliary tract was observed in 24 (25,5 %) patients of the control group and in 5 (5,3 %) patients of the index group. The duration of decompression period in the control group was 14,6±2,7 days and in the index group – 12,3±1,9 days. Specific complications at the first stage of treatment in the control group were observed in 5 (8,7 %) cases, in the index group – in 6 (11,4 %) patients and in the cases of one-step treatment strategy – in 5 (13,1 per cent) and 3 (7,5 %) cases, respectively. Postoperative complications in the control group occurred in 4 (8,7%) and in the index group – in 2 (4,2 %) patients. The mortality in the control group was 4,4 %. In the main group there were no lethal outcomes.
