The levels of serum endothelin in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and various manifestations of coronary heart disease

The article presents the results of the endo-thelin-1 serum levels investigation in rheumatoid arthritis patients with various manifestations of coronary heart disease. Increased endothelin-1 level was found both in patients with rheumatoid arthritis in combination with ischemic heart disease and without evidence of coronary heart disease compared with control group. The direct correlation between the level of endothelin-1 and immunoinflamatory process severity in rheumatoid arthritis patients, functional class of coronary heart disease and heart rhythm disorders was revealed.
